Zoom
The video functionality for attendees, all attendees has the ability to control their video which allows a speaker to build better rapport during the presentation.
Multiple view options, having a multitude of view options ranging from gallery view, speaker view and side by side during screen share allows a unique experience for each and every person within the platform.
Reactions, where necessary a speaker or facilitator may need to build rapport with the crowed, now that we can clap hands or physically put up our hands we need to surrogate that gesture to a virtual reaction. Zoom has the ability to gesture a thumbs up, clapping hands or raise their virtual hand to ask a question.
Security, although Zoom has recently been under the spotlight for security, they have since worked on a multitude of functions to protect attendees for unexpected guests. They have introduced a waiting room option that allows the event producer/facilitator to control who has access to the meeting. The producer can also remove people from the meeting and disable their screen share, microphone and video should the need arise. Coupled with that there is an ability to disable the chat or the ability to copy the chat content.
Polling, Zoom has the ability for delegates to poll within the platform, this functionality is limited however it is a good engagement tool.
Recording, for FIA, as previously discussed, to be best executed all events should be recorded for editing and distribution post event. Zoom allows for the session to be recorded in Mp3, Mp4 and the chat to be recorded in a .txt file.
Attendee amount, Zoom has the ability to host 1 000 people in the meeting function, or the platform can be upgraded to take 10 000 people in a webinar functionality.
Breakaway rooms, in a round table example the breakaway rooms can be a great functionality for individuals to breakout into smaller groups so that they can co-create and collaborate in smaller groups.
Mentimeter
Mentimeter is a web application that creates a feedback loop before, during or after an event.
The application is easy to access from a phone’s browser. Mentimeter boasts anonymity in all the interactions as well as real time feedback.
The platform boasts 16 different types of questions ranging from polls, sliders, open ended and Q&A with an up-vote functionality.
All Mentimeter sessions are recorded and can be condensed into PDF or Excel documents so that the event organizer can make deductions based on the events interactivity within the session. This is a powerful tool for content planning for other events, especially for those within a series of events.

We’ve seen the headlines, Google won’t allow their employees to use Zoom, big corporates have denied access to it on work laptops. Now parliament has had a nightmare experience using Zoom, with vulgar content shared and profanities slung at an MP.
